The
region of Languedoc-Roussillon boasts some of the best beaches in Europe. Mile
upon mile of golden sand lapped by the gentle waters of the Mediterranean make
this region a great place for family camping holidays, and the many campsites
strung along the coast ensure that children are well provided for. There are all
sorts of activities arranged
for children, with discos for the older ones, and plenty of opportunities for
leaving the kids in one of the many children's clubs while mum and dad take some
time for themselves.
But a camping holiday in Languedoc Roussillon isn't just about the beach. The
area is steeped in history, going right back to the time before the Romans when
the Cathars were the dominant
people.
Visit the fantastic walled city of Carcassonne, one of the best preserved
medieval towns in the world. Languedoc-Roussillon has a fantastic artistic
heritage, most famously in the town of Arles, where Van Gogh lived and painted.
